First Presbyterian Church of Houma is called to love the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, and mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We seek to pursue this mission by focusing on Christ and these key purposes given to the church:
Exalt and love God in unity by offering praise and petition and by confessing Jesus is LORD.
Ministry is loving one another, by encouraging one another, caring for one another, and using Godís gifts in service to one another.
Teaching the good news of Godís love in Christ, through Bible Study, applying Godís truth, and demonstrating the gospel in our daily lives.
Following the Great Commandment we will proclaim the gospel in our homes, communities, and to the ends of the earth, through outreach, testimony, sharing of gifts and works of mercy in love. We will seek to display the joy of our salvation to the world.
Fellowship begins with our mutual acceptance in Christ, it shows itself in the common joy of the Spirit and it strengthens the body in love.
The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, concern for needs, and of serving others. Therefore, the first duty of the Deacon is sympathy and service. Historically, to this office has been given the duty of being the Churchís instrument for the ministry of compassion. Such duties may include the care, maintenance, and preparation of the church and its facilities.
First Presbyterian Church of Houma glorifies God through a traditional style of worship using hymnals and singing a capella in unison.
The men of the church gather every Wednesday morning in the cafeteria of Terrebonne General Medical Center at 6:30 am. We eat breakfast, fellowship, and study God's word until 7:30 am.
Part of our giving glory to God is by gathering together in fellowship. Every Sunday immediately after Sunday school we gather for coffee and godly fellowship. We would like to invite everyone to come and join us.
We have an integrated Sunday School class led by Hank Williams where we pray for politicians, churches, nations, and needs, we then view a video lecture lesson meant to deepen our understanding of God, followed by a time for comments and questions.
We have nursery available during service time at 11am.
